Hoping for a better day




I did not feel like writing yesterday. Sindhu's loss has really upset me. But Kamalpreet surprised me.

1. Badminton

Sindhu : The 1st game was really close but the 2nd game wasn't good enough for us. The Taipei Chinese lady, Tai was super aggressive and very agile. Her cross court drop shots were mind blowing. I think Sindhu did not use her cross court smashes enough. Maybe Tai did not give her many opportunities at the start but later when she did, Sindhu was not able to capitalise. When Tai was at the net, Sindhu had no chance. Very upset about the result.

2. Athletics

Kamalpreet : discus throw

She became the 3rd Indian & 2nd woman to qualiy for the final. She threw it at a distance of 64m and finished 2nd! If you haven't watched the video, pls do.

She wanted to quit athletics & switch to cricket but thankfully didn't. We would have lost out on a chance to get a medal!

3. Archery

Atanu Das : Eliminated

He defeated the Rio gold medaliat to reach quarters but couldn't defeat the silver medalist to move to semis. It is all about the nerves. They were 4-4 with 3 shots(1 deciding set) to go. 1st shot both hit a 9, 2nd Atanu hit 8 and Furukawa hit a 10 & that was the difference.

It was all in the mind & was sad to see Atanu exit.

4. Boxing

Amit Panghal : I was so shocked to see him play the way he did. In the 2nd and 3rd rounds , Amit was only trying to avoid the opponent & never tried to be aggressive. He just had completely lost confidence & was disheartening to see our world no.1 crash out like this.

Poona Rani : eliminated

5. Hockey : Ind v SA women's

Our women fought incredibly well & defeated SA & gave them a chance to qualify for the quarters.FIRST TIME EVER! The way we started , nobody gave them a chance. Brilliant comeback. Luckily Britain defeated Ireland & we got through to the quarters!


Today is Sindhu's Bronze match which I hope she wins, Satish Kumar's boxing , men's hockey quarters along with golf & equestrian.

The tiger hunt!

As most of you know my first love is sports and in the last few years, I realized that my 2 nd love is Wildlife. The experience of tracking, spotting and watching wildlife in their natural habitat is something I really enjoy. Spotting the big cats is not easy though some people are lucky enough to spot them in their 1 st safari but they don’t know its value! I wasn’t particularly fond of animals before my wedding. The story of every Indian household at 630PM IST, thanks to the IPL!

This picture is all of us :) Pic credit DNAindia.com It is such a pleasure to settle down on your sofa, with a cup of coffee, at 630PM IST daily to watch a game of cricket. To think this will continue for more almost 2 months brings a smile to my face. The best part is watching the game with family and chat about it with friends, all supporting different teams with a lot of banter and fun. It is the start of the massive festival season in India! Each game has its drama, exciting talents, comical errors, cases to use technology better and more importantly a lot of learning. I have tried to summarize a few from the first 4 matches below: Match 1 : MI v/s CSK 1.      I loved it when Dhoni sent Jaddu & Sam Curran before him. He later said that it was all a mind game to intimidate the spinners. However, it was bigger than that for me. I heard on commentary that Sam Curran was Dhoni's pick at the auction.
