A GOLDEN end to the 2020 Olympics!

87.58m.

Remember the number.

I had written yesterday that today could be the day of 3 medals for us. Well, we almost did it. Sadly, almost is not good enough at the Olympics where the whole world is competing for the 3 spots.

But, we ended the games on a high with a GOLD! When we think Olympics, we only think of our national anthem being played at that stage. I could not believe that was actually happening!

For me, there is nothing more emotional than seeing our tricolour & hearing our national anthem.

Thank you Neeraj for letting us experience magic!

1. Golf

One sport that I have never been able to get myself to watch is Golf. Well, until this week. I had no clue about the game, rules, scoring etc. Before this Olympics, I learnt about many other sports but not golf. Aditi made that happen. What an achievement!

Let us get this straight. She is World no.200 & was competing with the current no.1 & former no.1s for the medal. I never thought that one day, I will be super tensed watching our golfer competing in the Olympics!

This was another close miss which hurts. But, Aditi has done the unthinkable. Getting our nation to learn a new sport!

Well done champ!

2. Wrestling

Bajrang Punia ate his opponent for breakfast in his maiden Olympics & got the Bronze! Sheer dominance! With that we have 2 wrestling medals from Tokyo!

3. Athletics

Javelin throw

Well, I am short of words.

I don't know what to call it. His strategy, confidence, audacity ??? Just top the table in 2 attempts & watch all the others trying to play catch up!

What stunned me was the way he reacted after the 2nd throw. Celebrated even before it landed. He just knew that he had done it. Phenomenal!

Every single throw after that was making my heart beat faster.

After the 2nd throw, I was asking my husband, are we allowed to be greedy?? The commentators seemed to be sure that the remaining contest is only for Silver & Gold. But the way things have gone in the past few days, I was not sure how to think or react.

That feeling when we knew it was GOLD, cannot be expressed in words. It was so overwhelming. The 1st athlete to win a GOLD in track & field, Athletics! Wow!

The national anthem on the last day in the last event made this Olympics extra special.

I know we are nowhere close to where we should be but are taking small steps to reach there. Keep believing, keep supporting & more importantly, keep dreaming.

Dreams do come true.

With that, our best ever Olympics comes to an end.

It was more than sport for me. It was an emotion that I enjoyed sharing with you in the last 2 weeks.
